White Ant/Termite Damage Repair
Dealing with termite damage requires a two-step process:
1: Ensuring the colony is completely gone; and
2: Repairing or replacing the chewed and weakened timber.
After the termites have been exterminated, our carpenters will assess the damaged timber.
For major structural damage affecting roof trusses, load beams, or floor joists, we'll oversee these steps:
Temporary Support: Our carpenters will install temporary structural jacks and support walls to safely hold up the weight of your home while load-bearing beams or studs are removed.
Removal and Assessment: Damaged timber is carefully cut out.
Replacement: The compromised wood is replaced with treated timber (to resist future attacks) or steel. Depending on the damage, joists may be "sistered" (reinforcing weakened timber by nailing a new piece alongside it), and structural beams reinforced or replaced.
Council and engineering Sign-off: For extensive structural work, you will often need building approval from your local council and a structural engineer to assess the damage, design the fix, and issue a certificate of compliance.
